PLTW coming this fall!
PLTW coming to PK this fall!
Posted on 08/29/2014

PLTW (Project Lead The Way) is an engineering based STEM curriculum that we will begin with all K-4 students this fall.  This class will be taught in the STEM Lab by Mr. Gross.  All K-4 students will experience this class during the week for at least one hour.  Students will still learn STEM curriculum in their regular classrooms, however Mr. Gross' class will emphasize the importance of engineering and the design process.  The themes students will encounter during PLTW are as follows:

Kindergarten: Structure and Function
1st Grade: Light and Sound
2nd Grade: Materials Science
3rd Grade: Stability and Motion
4th Grade: Energy and Collisions

Since PLTW is already taught in our middle and high schools at ISD 197, the PLTW Launch program is a perfect pathway and lead-in for the students of PK.  We hope this program sparks their interest in engineering, and they continue the PLTW program throughout their educational careers at ISD 197!
