Still Our Pick!
Jennifer Parker, 4th grade teacher at Pilot Knob Elementary, attended the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award Banquet on May 3, 2009 as one of eleven finalists.
Ms. Parker stated: "I just spent an amazing weekend with 10 other teachers who shared their passion and their stories with me as an equal. Any one of them would have made an outstanding representative as MN Teacher of the Year, and Amber Damm will do an excellent job speaking on behalf of our profession. . . the banquet that culminated the event on Sunday was both affirming and inspiring. I cannot say how deeply touched I was by the support of my family, friends, students and co-workers throughout the experience. Seeing so many smiling, familiar faces in the sea of 700 people as I sat at the banquet table filled my heart. I can honestly say that the whole weekend was the most validating experience of my professional life. It was altogether exhilarating, inspiring and exhausting! Thank you all for your support, encouragement and kindness over the past months. I am happy to be back with my students and look forward to a great finish to an amazing school year."
